Eating Out

Although we are in a rural location, there are a number of pub/restaurants not too far distance from Murefield, in which you can enjoy a lunch or evening meal.

The Hanmer Arms is our nearest pub/restaurant and is set in the beautiful village of Hanmer. A selection of local beers, along with good food and wine, makes it worth a visit.

Listed below are our other suggestions for the region and we have, where available, shown links to the respective establishments’ web sites in order to view sample menus and wine lists.

Sarn near Threapwood on the Wales/Cheshire border. Overlooking the Wyche Brook. Good selection of ales.

The landlord Richard is chef and serves a mean steak.

Excellent value.

Queens Head

The Cross Foxes

Overlooking the River Dee at Overton Bridge at Erbistock. Admire the views of the river when you dine in the conservatory.

This is a local’s local. Often you can come here on a sunny evening, sit in the conservatory looking up the river, and watch the fishermen in their waders casting flies for salmon.

Gresford Nr. Wrexham

The Pant is a picture-postcard manor house with a long sweeping drive and majestic trees, overlooking a small lake surrounded by hills and hollows.

Inside it’s the same thing - a 16th Century inglenook fireplace, nooks and crannies everywhere and history seeping through its veins.

Pant-yr-Ochain

The Combermere Arms

Burleydam Nr Whitchurch. On the Shropshire/Cheshire border.

The Combermere has a long and proud history as a pub, it dates from the 1540’s and is a jumble of nooks and crannies, It is a classic Cheshire country inn to the bottom of its venerable boots.

Llangollen - on the bank of the River Dee

The first thing that strikes people as they walk through the door is the great jumble of old beams everywhere, and the water wheel turning slowly behind the bar.

The decks outside are built directly over the mill race and the rapids. Mountains and hills rise all around, and the smell of ozone fills the air – it’s a guaranteed hangover cure.

The Corn Mill
